Chicken Ranch Beach, Marin County, California

Posted by Jody on January 13, 2012

Chicken Ranch Beach, with its welcoming, worn path amongst the trees, was a complete surprise for us. There was no signage, there was no parking area.  What we could see from the road (Sir Francis Drake Boulevard) was a little foot bridge, and beyond the bridge and trees, a patch of sand.  “Hey! Was that a beach?” We just had to turn the car around to investigate.

After parking along the side of the road we hurried down to explore our “find.”

Chicken Ranch Beach is a very clean little beach in a peaceful Marin County setting.  Resting on the quiet shores of Tomales Bay, north of Inverness, California, this serene spot is the perfect place to sit a while with a good book and just enjoy the stillness.  This tiny, three acre county park with it’s sandy beach has stunning views of the tranquil bay and the surrounding rolling hills of west Marin.

Kayaking is a popular pastime at Chicken Ranch Beach. Pack a picnic, bring your kite and come prepared to swim. Go ahead and bring Fido. He’s more than welcome to join you, if he’s on a leash.

You’ll want to spend the day on this little west Marin beach!
