What a Find! Saratoga Springs Marina Park, Utah Lake
Posted by Jody on September 9, 2011
During our last visit to see family in Salt Lake City, we all decided to hop in the car and “go on an explore.” Heading south to Utah Lake, we were hoping to find a beach. Although we couldn’t find a swimming beach with the help of old-fashioned paper maps or on the internet or even with the GPS, we still had high hopes. (We had never heard of Saratoga Springs Marina Park.) Seriously, Utah Lake has a surface area of 95,000 acres. Surely we would find a beach! So we decided to just meander and see what we might find.

We ended up in the City of Saratoga Springs, which is nestled on the northwest shore of Utah Lake.

Just off of N. Redwood Road, we found a beautiful park with a lovely grassy area, shaded picnic tables, a marina and boat ramp, restrooms, and a beach! A very teeny beach. What a beautiful setting, with the view of the majestic Wasatch Range across Utah Lake to the east. Saratoga Springs Marina Park was the place to be on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Picnickers were plentiful. Families were playing in the water at the little beach. Pleasure boats were towing water skiers. Jet skis were zipping around on the lake while children eagerly awaited their turn near the floating docks.
It turns out that Saratoga Springs has a 5-7 year Master Plan for the major development of Marina Park, which includes the addition of 11.5 developed acres to the existing 8.5 acre park. The transformation will include beach volleyball courts, a boardwalk, the creation of a formal beach area and so much more. Saratoga Springs Marina Park has a tiny beach now but very big plans for the future!
Have a great day at the beach!
