San Francisco is one of our favorite American cities. You just can’t run out of things to do in the City by the Bay. There’s Alcatraz and Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge and AT&T Park. Most of San Francisco’s best attractions seem to be within a stone’s throw of San Francisco Bay or the Pacific Ocean. One of our family’s favorite spots is Aquatic Park Beach, right there, in the center of it all.

Aquatic Park Historic Landmark District lies due west of Fisherman’s Wharf. Along with the Maritime Museum, and the Hyde Street Pier, it is part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. Just head west on Jefferson. Aquatic Park Beach is impossible to miss! The entire beach area offers beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay, and the city. The family friendly beach is open to the public. It rests on the shoreline of Aquatic Park Cove where you’ll find hearty swimmers in every season. The water temperatures range from lows near 50° midwinter, to the middle 60s in late summer. Distance swimmers are regulars here in the cold water, with non-motorized and sail/auxiliary boats being the only boats allowed in Aquatic Park Cove.

Now that you have finished playing in the sand and splashing each other at Aquatic Park Beach, are you looking for something else “coastal” to do in San Francisco? You might just want to head over to Pier 39 to watch the California Sea Lions put on a show. They’re quite entertaining! ~Enjoy~
