Does it seem a little early for an election?  Well, it’s on in The Garden State!

The voting booth is open for the 5th annual New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches contest.  According to the official website NJTopTenBeaches.org, “There are 48 shore communities represented, from Sandy Hook to Cape May.”  With three voting divisions, including Family Vacation, Day Trips and Ecotourism, one vote per person in each category will help determine which beaches will be awarded bragging rights as members of New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches list for 2012.

The results of the 2012 New Jersey’s Top 10 Beaches Survey will be featured during the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium’s annual State of the Shore Media Event on Thursday, May 24, 2012, just before the Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of the summer season.”

Go ahead and exercise your right to vote! We’ll be sure to post an update when the results come in.

Not wishing to be accused of trying to influence the outcome of the election, I’ve chosen not to post photos of the Jersey Shore today. Instead, I’ve included this lovely ~nonpartisan~ image: Trees on the Jersey Shore, watercolor over graphite by William Trost Richards, 1871.
