Travel Theme: Texture

This shot always brings back the fondest memories of barefoot walks on the cool, early morning sands of Sanibel Island, Florida. Kick off your flip-flops and enjoy!
“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed, but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach —waiting for a gift from the sea.”
~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift from the Sea

My family spent a week at Sanibel around 1978 and I haven’t been back since, but I have the most excellent memories of the island. It’s like a favorite book I read 30 years ago. I almost think I don’t ever want to reread it because it can never be as good as it was the first time. But I know I’d go back in a second if I had the chance.

There is no such thing as too many trips to Sanibel Island…My experiences there have always given me so much to remember, soul moments to treasure in my heart…And what I wouldn’t give for one more trip to that glorious place in the sun…I go there every day in my mind and heart and soul…

Katie, I wholeheartedly agree! For it’s amazing sunrises and sunsets (what a perfectly positioned paradise), incredible beachcombing and beautiful island breezes, Sanibel is simply the best.
