Can you come out and play?

McClures Beach
“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in,
where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike.”
~ John Muir, The Yosemite (1912)

Greg and I came across this little pink shovel in the sands of McClures Beach at Point Reyes National Seashore. Not one other soul was in sight on this lovely, peaceful morning.

the sharp pink – dramatic shadow and way it is simply abandoned in the sand just says kids and finished fun – a real classic representation of the beach as a play area

There’s always something rather poignant about the little child’s spade or small green plastic bucket left behind on an empty beach… But nice for a small spade- or bucket-less child to find next day, I guess.

Marvelous quote and photo. It’s too cold and snowy here in WI to go out and play much, but spring is on the horizon.

Thank you! We can dream…

Looks like it was put there for the two of you Jody! Seems like a ‘sign’ for some playtime! 🙂
