For Oona

Posted by Jody on March 24, 2013

Happy Birthday to You!

Happy Birthday to You!

The greatest poem ever known
Is one all poets have outgrown:
The poetry, innate, untold,
Of being only four years old.

Still young enough to be a part
Of Nature’s great impulsive heart,
Born comrade of bird, beast, and tree
And unselfconscious as the bee-

And yet with lovely reason skilled
Each day new paradise to build;
Elate explorer of each sense,
Without dismay, without pretense!

Love the photo – and the poem. Just wanted to say I’ve always been reluctant to post children’s photos on-line, although they are always delightful. What are your thoughts?

  2. Happy Birthday to Oona. What a cute photo. 🙂

why would you not post a picture of a child on line? We had one headmistress of our kid’s school who banned any parents taking photos of school sports, plays, assemblies or whatever. I thought she was hysterical. After a couple of years she left and new head had no trouble with it and the parents were all much happier after that.

    Lovely poem by the way.

Yes! I have heard of that! I think posting photos is absolutely fine… identifying them is where it gets tricky. Thanks so much for your input! I do appreciate it.

  4. Beautiful post Jody , Lovely kid 🙂

The picture and the poem brought a smile to my face. Ah, four, a wonderful age.
